    Venue: St Osmund's, Dorchester

    Scores: Sherborne 239 v Beaminster 334. 12 overs each

Beaminster won the toss and opted to bowl. The bowling started nervously with a few wides but Beaminster settled well. In the indoor format a wicket takes 6 of the batting sides score...and Beaminster took 7 wickets, limiting Sherborne's score significantly! The fielding was accurate with very few mistakes made. Pick of the bowlers was Hayley Francis (cpt) with 2 overs bowled -8 for 3 - outstanding figures. Teams start the innings on 200 and Sherborne finished on 239. Indoor batting means you bat in pairs for 4 overs. Hayley and Marion Gardner opened the innings and both played with strength and confidence to add 71 runs to the total. Emma House and Melanie White were the centre pairing and continued to add to the total, making 43 runs. Carley Hill and Caroline Loder were the last pairing and whose job it was to protect our lead. They also managed to add another 20 runs. Beaminster finished on 334. A very strong start and a solid base on which to build.

    Sherborne 263 v Beaminster 349. 12 overs each

Winning the toss again...Beaminster decided to bowl first. The ball had been changed between inning and it took longer for the bowling to settle down this time and fewer wickets were taken. The fielding, however, was very strong and few runs were given away in the field...due to determination and a few rushes of blood to the head. There were a few injuries nursed after this game! Sherborne ended their innings on 263. Beaminster's batting continued to improve...with more shots being played as their confidence grew. Hayley and Carley opened the innings and put on 56 runs, a great foundation. Emma and Mel added 52 to give a strong lead to the final pairing of Caroline and Marion, who added 45. In the final innings Beaminster only lost 2 wickets. The batting star was Marion who produced an unorthodox innings full of surprising and unusual shots....some even one handed...that all scored!!! Beaminster finished on 349 2 games played and 2 games won..played with good humour and great spirit.....a really good team effort that shows heaps of promise for the coming season. Next indoor games will take place on the 11th February.
